LYTTLE, Lloyd Morris, age 91, Windsor formerly of Ellershouse, Hants Co., passed away on Friday, March 20, 2015, surrounded by his loving family at Dykeland Lodge, Windsor. Born on April 12, 1923, in Ellershouse, he was the son of the late Charles and Jane (Densmore) Lyttle. Lloyd is survived by his wife of 69 years, the former, Audrey Fletcher; sons, Darrell (Bev), McKay Section; Stephen (Charmaine), Ellershouse; two wonderful Grandsons, Matthew and Brandon; sisters-in-law, Frances Lyttle, Ellershouse and Mickey Lyttle, Garlands Crossing; also, special “son and daughter”, Bob and Betty Williams, and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by twin brother Boyd, brothers, Bert, Roland, Fred, and Lyman and sisters, Helen Williams, Mary Spence, Ruth Henderson, Doris MacBurnie, and June Craig. Lloyd was the last living member of his family. Lloyd worked several years for the Fundy Gypsum Company as a heavy equipment operator, then with C.A. Williams and Son’s. The last 15 years of his career was with Department of Highways as a Grader Operator. He knew what hard work was all about and how dedicated you have to be, no matter what you do. He never expected any credit. Well, we can say it now. He was a mentor to others he worked with and to this day the family hear comments “that the roads in Hants County have never been graded, or the snow plowed with such detail since his retirement”. This was his passion, and even in his later years, he would look out the window as the plows went by and say, “I wish I could get out there and show these guys how to plow these roads”. Lloyd had another passion, Saturday night dances with his wife Audie. He rarely missed a song on the dance floor. When the DJ played “Satin Sheets” or “Don’t Close Your Eyes”, Lloyd stole the floor. Lloyd was a wonderful husband, father, father-in-law, brother, uncle, and a very special grandfather. After Lloyd retired, his greatest love and delight were his Grandsons, Matthew, and Brandon. They were the love of his life and he spent all his time with them, playing ball and golf, driving them wherever they had to go, and attending every event they participated in. Lloyd was an amazing grandfather. Lloyd lived a long life, a full life, a good life, a strong and clean life. He was a good and decent man. We will all miss him dearly. Special thanks are extended to the staff of Dykeland Lodge, Dr. Mark Kazimirski, and Dr. Catherine Smith whose visit was very comforting to the family. There was no visitation by request. A graveside service was held 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, 2015 in the Oakhill Cemetery, Ellershouse. Rev. Krista Anderson officiated. Immediately following the graveside service a reception was held at the Ellershouse Community Hall, Ellershouse. Donations in memory of Lloyd were requested to be made to the Dykeland Lodge, 124 Cottage Street, Windsor, NS B0N 2T0, or a charity of choice.
