DOUCETTE, Joseph Melvin (Mel) – age 92, of Bell Neck, passed away peacefully at home on March 21, 2015 surrounded by his family. Born in Bell Neck on August 17, 1922, he was the son of the late Jean Isaie and Celina (LeFevre) Doucette. Surviving are his children, Marie Grad, Halifax; Wayne (Genesta), Bell Neck; Maureen (Don) Currie, Halifax; Harry (Liz), Bell Neck; Mel (Claire), Bell Neck; 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; brother, Camille (Celeste), Toronto. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Gladys; brothers, Percy, Lawrence, Gustave, Jimmy, Jean and Harry; sister, Agnes. Mel was a veteran of WWII serving in the Royal Canadian Air Force. He worked as a carpenter until he retired. Funeral arrangements were under the care and direction of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth where visitation was held on Monday, March 23 from 7-9 p.m. with prayers at 8 p.m. in Yarmouth. A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday from the H.M. Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel, Yarmouth, Father Albeni d’Entremont officiated. Special thanks to all the care givers and the VON.
