BENNETT, Ruby Laura – age 88, Auburn, Kings Co., passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2015, in the Mountain Lea Lodge, Bridgetown. Born in Bloomington, she was a daughter of the late John “Nelson” and Annie Laura (Judge) Vidito. Ruby was a veteran of the Second World War, and had been a private in the Canadian Army Women’s Corps (Clerical Division) from 1944-1945. She was a dedicated mother to her family and worked very hard. Ruby and Willis owned and operated Bennett’s Seafood Market in Wilmot for several years before retirement. She could always be counted on to make great baked beans and brown bread and loved to make doughnuts. Surviving are her sons, Howard (Heather) Bennett, Kingston; Robert (Doreen) Bennett, Waterville; grandchildren, Melanie (John) Rose, Ryan (Tara Connors) Bennett; great-grandchildren, Lucas, Rachael, Irelynn, Amelia and Jacob; sister, Barbara (the late Eric) Ridgeway, Greenwood; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Willis W. Bennett; sisters, Dorothy (Paul) Pierce; Mildred (Maurice) Hiltz; Violet (Aubrey) Dempsey; Jean Wilson; brother, Howard “Rex” (Marguerite) Vidito; Fred (Margaret) Vidito. There was no visitation. Funeral service followed by a reception took place at 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 25, in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., toll-free, 1-855-825-3448. Pastor Christina Bigelow officiated, with burial in the Nictaux Cemetery, at a later date.
