Mildred Hazel passes away at age 100
Mildred Velma Hazel - 100, of Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville, formerly of Canning, Kings County, passed away Saturday, March 21, 2015 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Kentville, she was a daughter of the late Earle and Hattie (Sheffield) Barkhouse. She had been a member of the Canning Senior Citizens and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion, Kings Branch No. 6, Kentville. She is survived by five daughters, Betty Sheffield, Kentville; Shirley Wood, New Minas; Audrey Ward, New Minas; Ruth (Allan) Ettinger, Steam Mill; Joan (Victor) Cox, Sheffield Mills; two sons, Allison (Gladys), Canning and Delbert (Winnifred), Sheffield Mills; a sister, Valerie; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Augustus; a son, Malcolm; two sisters, Redenta and Helen; six brothers, Norman, Willis, Murray, Hollis, Leon and Bob; a daughter-in-law, Mildred; three sons-in-law, Bev Ward, Murray Sheffield and Harold Wood; three grandchildren, John (in infancy), Robert and Sylvia. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, 2015 with a Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary service held at 7:00 p.m. in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. The funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 26, 2015 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Gary Manthorne officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in the Hillaton Cemetery, Kings County. Donations in memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
