Carolyn Soulsby

Carolyn June Soulsby, (Forrest) it is with the greatness of sadness that we announce the passing of Carolyn June (Forrest) Soulsby, our mom and best friend (to many). Born in 1932, Carolyn was the daughter of the late Delbert and Helen (Bremner) Forrest. Born and raised in Digby, Carolyn taught in various locations around the province, after graduating from Teacher's College in 1951. In 1957, she left the Teaching profession to be a full-time mother to her children. Throughout the 60's and 70's, Carolyn volunteered with the Girl Guides of Canada and dappled in teaching at Northcliffe Recreation Centre. She was very active with her neighbour friends. In her later life, Carolyn moved back to her beloved home in Digby and thrived as a gifted artist, potter, gardener and writer. She loved doing and being active and she was thankful every day for her life. Over the years, Carolyn faced all of life's challenges and joys, with elegance, strength and dignity. She is survived by her children: Leslie (Eric Skinner) Halifax and Alan (Darlene) Halifax; granddaughters: Robyn and Lauren, sister, Muriel (Malcolm) Ritchie; nephew, James Parent (Suzanne) and many loved cousins. Besides her parents, Carolyn was predeceased by her husband, George Soulsby, and nephew Peter Parent. A celebration of Carolyn's life took place Saturday, March 28 from Jayne’s Funeral Home, 7 Birch St. (902-245-2525) Digby. Rev. Simone Wilson presided. A family graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the SPCA or Alzheimer's Society. A special thank you to Dr. A. Carey, the staff at Ivany Place, Bedford and support staff from Mental Health, Halifax. www.jaynesfuneralhome.com
