It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our father, grandfather, brother and friend, Gordon LeBlanc, 82, on Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at Harbourstone Enhanced Care (Irish Cove), Sydney.
Born in Little Pond on Nov. 3, 1932, he was the loving son of the late William and Loretta (Jessome) LeBlanc. Gordon worked as a coal miner for 35 years before retiring from Devco. He loved to fish, hunt and work with his hands, most notably “whittling”. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his daughter Jacqueline “who’s been an Angel to him” and “special” son-in-law, Herbie Eveleigh, Sydney Mines; his son, Darrell and daughter-in-law, Leanne, Shilo, Manitoba; as well as grandchildren, Kirsten, Beckey, Wayne and Paul and great-grandchildren, Brayden, Jaslyn, Ella and Isabella. Also surviving are brothers and sisters, Hilda (Dave) Jabalee, Montreal, Que., Francis (Jimmy) Pero, Sydney Mines, John (Carmella), Florence, Percy (Jose), Montreal, Que., Adrian (Shelly), Strathroy, Ont., June (Joe) Kowalski, Groves Point, Gladys (John) Morris, Salisbury, N.B., Rosalie (Wayne) Carey, Millville, Madonna (Dennis) McIntyre, Vernon, B.C., Marlene (Donnie) Boudreau, Sydney Mines, and Linda (Pat) Marsh, Hammonds Plains, N.S.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Carmella (Bena); son, Wayne; sister, Theresa and brother, Elmer.
At Gordon’s request, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will take place Monday, March 30, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, Bras d’Or, with Fr. Peter McLeod officiating. Burial will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dementia and Arthritis Society.
