It is with great sadness that we, the family announce the passing of Martha Francis Feaver of Glace Bay, on Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at Seaview Manor.
She was born Sept. 5, 1936.
Born in Kenville, Martha was the daughter of the late Arthur and Martha Marcella (McIntrye) Gillard.
The fourth child of Martha and Art, she grew up on North Street where she developed her love of the ocean and swimming. She raised children there for many years and taught them to love themselves and one another. Martha spent her free time playing bingo, darts and doing word finds. She was a long time member of the Army and Navy Ladies Auxiliary.
Surviving are her daughter, Carrie (Gordon), New Jersey; sons, Wayne (Jeanne), Halifax, David (Patricia), Glace Bay, Stephen (Sherri), Glace Bay; sisters, Bernice Donovan, Glace Bay, Joan Clark, Glace Bay, Karen (Richard) Broderick, Mass., Eleanor (Allan) Mass.; brothers, Gordon, Mass., Stephen, Glace Bay, Wilfred, Ont., Richard, Ont.; grandchildren, Ryan, Lyndon, Alisha, Trevor, Sarah, Krista, Alex, Kayla, Katelyn, Rebecca, Mason; great-grandchildren, Keigan, Bailey, Carson, Porter, Bentley, McKinley, Hurley, Collier, Pria, Blake, Easton.
Predeceased by her parents, husband, George Feaver, son, Richard taken too soon from our family, her brothers, James, Ronnie, Dodo Gillard and sister, Jenny, stepmother, Anna (Ratchford) Gillard, longtime companion, Henry (Henner) Murphy.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation 7-9 p.m., Saturday, March 28, 2015, in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. Visitation at 10 a.m. until time of service 11 a.m. Sunday in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to MADD, Canadian Cancer Society, or to a charity of one’s choice.
