HOUNSELL, Allan

Allan Tremain Hounsell passed away peacefully at Sherbrooke Community Centre on March 26, 2015 at the age of 100. Allan was predeceased by his first wife, Janet Leland and his second, wife Ruthe Naylor. Allan is survived by his children, Ronald (Peggy), Cheryl (Colin), Patricia (Harry), and Greg (Kim); his grandchildren, Shawn (Alain), Alana (Kevin), Kelly, Colleen, Jane (Paul), Ally (Dylan) and Connor; and his great grandchildren, Abby, Ben, Molly, Kay, Gabriel and Anna.
Allan was born in Winton, Saskatchewan on February 25, 1915 to Olive ( nee Ellison) and Milo Hounsell. His life was dedicated to the family farms at Winton and Birch Hills where he based his life on a deep respect for hard work, family, and the land. Allan was passionate about frugal living, simplicity and providing for others. In his later years, he was an avid fan of curling and the Toronto Blue Jays.

Special thanks to the staff and residents of the Bentley where Allan resided for his last six years in Saskatoon. Allan has left a community of dear friends who had become family. Deepest gratitude to the staff and residents at Trinity Manor and the Sherbrooke Community Centre who provided comfort and support. A private family gathering will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Acadia-McKague’s Funeral Centre (306)955-1600.
