It is with heavy hearts that we, the family announce the peaceful passing of Johneva Shea, 90, of Glace Bay, on March 27, 2015, with her loving family by her side.
Born in Louisbourg, she was the daughter of the late Bertha (Gillingham) and James MacKinnon.
During her lifetime she was employed by General Instruments, IGA, Metropolitan Store and the Glace Bay School board driving bus for special needs children.
Mom was an avid skater, artist and also enjoyed dancing, but above all things she loved her family and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter Debbie with whom she resided and her son Clarence(Geraldine); sisters, Florence (James) Cann, May (Frank) MacDonald; brother Howard(Ruth) MacKinnon; four grandchildren, Jason, Kelly, Alison and Molly; seven great-grandchildren, Ayla, Lily, Haley, Robyn, Emily, Kevin and Jenny Lee, she will also be missed by her lifelong friend Eva Cathcart.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by brothers Tommy, Clarence and John, sister Christine and son-in law Kevin.
There will be no visitation, cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay. A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, March 31 at 3 p.m. in St. Anne’s Church Main Street, Glace Bay. Interment will take place at a later date.
Donations in Johneva’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
