It is with overwhelming sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Elizabeth Shirley Anstey surrounded by her family at Agnes Pratt nursing home. Predeceased by husband Gerald in March 2011; sister-in-law Dorothy Dutot (Scharstrom); parents Charles and Elizabeth Dutot (Roil) and brother Herbert; half-brother Fred. Leaving to mourn brother Charles Dutot (St. John's); daughter Leslie Osmond (Keith); sons Kenneth (Lynda) and Charles (Sandra); grandsons Warren Anstey (Calgary), Cliffton Anstey (Winnipeg) and Blair and Gavin Osmond (St. John's); great-grandson Jacob ( Winnipeg) and special close friend Phyllis Dwyer. Prior to marrying Gerald, Betty lived and worked in London, England where she quickly made lifelong friendships while working at Barclays Bank. She loved to travel and she and Gerald visited many, many countries around the world and traveled by all means, ship, car, plane.....she loved to go anywhere. She is missed immensely and the void will never be filled. A very special thank-you to Robert Marshall, her caregiver of four years who ensured she got out and about at least four days a week when she could no longer drive - who brought her out for drives, ice cream, visits with friends, medical appointments and a scattered glass of wine with lunch......we are so thankful for these times spent with mom; also a thank-you to the many paramedics who transported mom back and forth to the hospital with the utmost of care. Visitation at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Monday March 30 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with Funeral Service on Tuesday March 31 at 11:00 a.m. Private interment at a later date. Flowers gratefully accepted or a donation in Betty's memory may be made to Agnes Pratt Nursing home, whom we would like to publicly acknowledge for the exceptional care provided to our mother during her short time residing there.
