Glendon W. Hardy
Born In: Gabarus
Born: July 6th, 1928
Passed on: March 23rd, 2015
It is with great sadness that we, the family of Glendon W. Hardy, announce his passing on March 23, 2015, surrounded by his loving family.
Dad was born July 6, 1928, in Gabarus to Alfred Daye Hardy and Frances (Severance) Hardy. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
He is survived by daughters, Glenda Hardy and Cathy (Jamie) Gillis; grandchildren, Paul, Heather and Cara; daughter-in-law, Kathy Hardy; sister-in-law, Julia Hardy; and several nieces and nephews.
Dad was predeceased by his wife, Jessie; son, Walter; brothers, Gerald, Charlie and Arthur; and sister, Florence.
Dad worked at Sydney Steel Plant for 40 years, retiring in 1989. Dad was a very humble person, not realizing his impact on his family, friends and community. He was the last founding member of the Marion Bridge Volunteer Fire Department and was also a member of the Mira Community Pasture. Dad enjoyed working in his garden and sharing the harvest with family and friends. He was a practical man, who lived his life simply and always had a story to tell and advice to give.
We would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Carol Critchley and the staff of 4A at the CBRH for their compassionate care and love of dad during his stay in the hospital.
Please join us at the Marion Bridge Rec. Center on Saturday, April 4, 2015, between 2-5 p.m. for a celebration of his life.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or the Marion Bridge Volunteer Fire Department.
Words of comfort can be sent to the family at www.sydneymemorialchapel.ca or email sydneymemorialchapel@ns.sympatico.ca.
