TRENTON – With deep sadness the children of Mary Dunn announce her passing, peacefully in her sleep at the Aberdeen Hospital on March 31, 2015 in her 103rd year.
Born in Big Island, she was a daughter of Archie and Margaret (MacKinnon) Chisholm.
Mom worked at Woolworths in her younger years and then Zellers from where she retired. Mom was a woman of strong faith with a strong devotion to St. Anne and made her yearly Pilgrimage to Sainte Anne de Beaupre and Cap-de-le-Madeleine in Quebec. She was a faithful member of Christ the King Church, member of the Tri County Cursillo Movement, former member of the CWL at St. John’s Parish and the Altar Society of Christ the King. She was an avid bingo player.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by first husband, Francis McChesney; second husband, Robert Dunn; grandson, Shane Dunn; brother, Angus; adopted brother, Eldon Mason; sons-in-law, Doug McInnis and Hugh Hale Sr.; daughter-in-law, Mildred Dunn.
She is survived by her children: Colette McInnis, Trenton; Robert (Millie), Lyons Brook; Mary Anita Hale, Westville; Alan, Fort McMurray; Barry (Judy), Trenton; grandchildren: Michele, Jim, Rhonda, Trevor, Hughie Jr., Mark, Michael, Barry, Suzanne, Melinda, Melissa, Denise, Jennifer, Justine, Danielle, Cheryl, Adele, Sonya; 17 great-grandchildren with one more on the way.
Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday, April 4, in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, Trenton. Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Monday, April 6, in Saint John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, New Glasgow, with Father Gary MacPherson presiding. Reception to follow in the Church Hall. Burial will be in Christ the King Cemetery at a later date.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
