Hicks: Jean Anne Hicks, age 79, of Swift Current, Sk. passed away March 25, 2015 at Cypress Regional Hospital. The Memorial Service was held Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at 2:00 pm from the Chapel of Warren’s Funeral Home with Pastor Alex Allan officiating. Jean is survived by her husband William (Bill) Hicks; her children Allan (Heather) Hicks of Abbotsford, B.C. and Denise (Robert) Pederson of Clavet, Sk.; grandchildren David Hicks of Abbotsford, B.C., Darcy Pederson and Christian Hernboeck of St. Gregor, Sk.; brother Milton Lake of Langley, B.C., sister-in-law Dorothy Lake of Saskatoon, Sk. and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parent Philip Lake in 1986, Hannah Lake in 1980; sister Verna Dies in 2007; brother-in-law Bud Dies in 2008; brothers Norman Lake in 1989 and Percy Lake in 2014; sister-in-law Gaileen Lake in 1999. Jean was born on August 19, 1935 in Asquith, Sk. She attended school in Asquith from 1942 until 1953, Success Business College in Saskatoon from 1953 until 1954. Jean married William “Bill” Hicks on April 5, 1958 in Saskatoon. They then resided in Swift Current, where Jean worked as a secretary at the Pioneer Lodge for 20 years, Travel Lodge Hotel for five years and then volunteered at the S.P.C.A. Book Store from 1996 until 2014. At this time she also did work for Community Volunteer Income Tax Program. In her spare time, Jean enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading, camping and fishing and she was an avid sports fan of the Blue Jay, Roughriders and curling. Jean will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by her family and friends. In her memory, memorial donations may be made to the S.P.C.A. Warren’s Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
