It is with great sadness that the families of Mr. Willis Scott Hamlyn announce his passing at his family residence in Hampden, NL, on Tuesday, March 31st, 2015, at the age of 54 years. Willis was very active in the town which he loved with various positions on numerous voluntary committees. He served his community as a councilor, Deputy Mayor & presently serving as the town Mayor during his untimely death. He also played a big role in his local church doing most of the maintenance. He was a Sunday school teacher, church board member, musician, Pastor (fill-in), & church secretary for over 25 years.Willis was also a cabinet maker, carpenter for 25+ year's. His favorite scripture verse was Revelation 21:4. Willis leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Mazie (nee Parsons), daughters: Mindy (Phillip) Morgan of Port de Grave, Lee-ann (Jonthan) Lythe of Grand Falls, Jennifer (Jeremy) Tetford of Lab City, and son Jeremy, of Lab City, his grandchildren: Mason, Jaxon, Brooke, Josiah and J.J (Jonthan Junior), his brothers: Lloyd (Rowena), twin: Willie (Jackie), Claude(Jean), his sisters: Florence(Graham), Zeta(Fred), Ruby, Edna (Gerald), brother-in-law Raymond Pittman, and his best fury buddies: dog Blazer and cat Timone. Willis was predeceased by his parents: Myrtus and Arthur Hamlyn, his brother Doug, and sister Bernice. Willis also leaves to mourn a large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, extended family and friends. The family will be receiving relatives and friends from the Hampden Pentecostal Church, on Friday April 3rd, from the hours of 7-9 pm, & continuing on Saturday, April 4th, 2015, from the hours of 2-4 and 7-9 pm.where also the funeral service will take place from on Sunday, April 5th, 2015, at 2 pm, with Pastor Ryan Harnum Officiating and the burial to follow at the Community Cemetery in Hampden, NL.
