BRIGGS, MARIE M.
At the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Friday, April 3, 2015 Marie M. Briggs passed away at the age of 101. Born in Belledune, NB, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Marguerite (Currier) Doucette and wife of the late Clarence Edward Briggs who passed away in 1996.
Marie was employed at the former Victoria Public Hospital in the Dietary Department for 31 years. She was also a member of St. Dunstan’s Roman Catholic Church.
She is survived by a son Frank A. Briggs (Joyce) of St. Catherines, Ontario; a daughter Elaine Chase of Fredericton; son-in-law Don MacKenzie of Cornwall, PEI; daughter-in-law Mexie of Fredericton; thirteen grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; eight great great grandchildren; two sisters Opal Doucet (Leo) of Fredericton and Theresa Jackson (Ward) of Brandon, Manitoba; four brothers Eddy Doucette (Glenna), Donnie Doucette (Vera), Earl Doucette (Florence) and Dale Doucette (Diane) all of Fredericton; several nieces and nephews.
She was also precedeased by a son Robert “Bobby” Briggs; a daughter Kathy MacKenzie; a sister Cecelia Robar; a sister-in-law Audrey Anderson; four brothers Orell, Bill, Junior and George; a great-granddaughter Catriona Friesen; step-mother Effie Hickey.
Resting at Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton with visitation on Monday, April 6 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral will be celebrated at Bishop’s Funeral Home, on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at 2:00 pm with Father Shawn Daley as celebrant. Interment will be held in the Rural Extension Cemetery at a later date.
