It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of a loving husband, father, and friend on April 4, 2015.
Born in Sydney, Gary, age 66, was a son of Mary (Devine) and the late Michael MacDonald. He worked for the Sydney Steel Plant for 25 years before spending the last 24 years with the CBRM, where he retired from in 2013. He loved to watch stock car racing; especially #27, in which he was the biggest fan. He took great enjoyment in spending time with the boys in the garage and having family bbq’s all summer long. He was also an avid Eagles fan. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Theresa of 45 years; sons, Vance (Darlene), Joey; daughters, Tracey (Fred), Sherry (Dale); brother, Vince (Sandra), Boston; grandchildren, Evan, Tyler, Scott, Shae, Jessica and Vance Jr; sisters-in-law, Juanita (Tommy), Velinda (John); brothers-in-law, Bo (Francis), Bobby (Meg); Aunt Sheila, as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Ronnie. Visitation will be held at 4 p.m., with a celebration of life service to follow at 8 p.m. Wednesday in the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home. Rev Sheldon Chant officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the palliative care unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
