It is with heavy hearts that we announce the tragic loss of our dear husband, father, grandfather, brother and close friend, Dave Walsh, on Saturday, April 4, 2015.
Born in North Sydney, he was the son of the late Michael and Stella (Hiscock) Walsh.
Dave was employed as a salesman for Lawson Products, travelling Cape Breton Island for more than 25 years, retiring in May of 2014.
He was a devoted member of the North Sydney Fire Department and was passionate about the Search and Rescue Team and the Cape Breton Burn Camp. He was an avid hunter and fisherman spending countless hours with his friends in the Highlands of Cape Breton. But most of all, Dave was a loving husband and father and a proud grandfather to Jagger.
He is survived by his wife, Suzanne Cordy; his daughter, Summer (Jamie) Gouthro and grandson, Jagger of Big Bras d’Or; by his stepson, Jimmy (Penny) Forward, Saint John, N.B.; his sister, Claudia (JacK) Burbridge, Ottawa; by his special first cousin who was always there for him, Paul (Ellen) Hiscock, North Sydney and by his dear friends, Bobby MacLean, Jobe Williams and John Lewis, who were always there to care for Dave and to encourage him.
Dave was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Donna.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A funeral service will take place 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Matthew Wesley United Church with Rev. Nick Phillips officiating.
