RICHARD, ARMEL
1922 - 2015
Armel Richard, 92, of Veteran’s Health Centre and formerly of Church Street in Moncton, passed away on Tuesday April 7, 2015 at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC. Born July 28, 1922 in Richibouctou-Village, he was the son of the late Arthur and Eva (Arsenault) Richard.
Armel was a veteran of the Second World War having served overseas in France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany with the Chaudière regiment from 1939-1945. He worked at International Nickel Mines prior to his retirement in 1982.
He is survived his many nieces, and nephews. He will be fondly remembered by his two grand-nieces: Renée and Mélanie. He was the last survivor of his immediate family.
He was predeceased by his wife, Léa (2007); three sisters: Jeanne, Lucie, and Céline; three brothers: Gérard, Edgar, and Albert.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 396 Main Street, Shediac (532-3297). Visiting hours Wednesday from 7 to 9 pm and Thursday from 9:30 am until time of departure (10:15).
The funeral mass will be celebrated at Saint-Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Shediac on Thursday, April 9 at 10:30 am. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary cemetery, Dieppe.
In memory of Armel, a contribution to the NB Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
A special thanks to the staff of the Moncton Veterans Centre for the great care, devotion and attention given to Armel over the past 2 1/2 years. It was greatly appreciated by the family.
