THOMAS, HOWARD WILLIAM
(1937-2015)
After a courageous battle with his health, Howard William Thomas passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at the Saint John Regional Hospital, which also was his late son Larry’s birthday. Born in Saint John, a son of Beatrice, (nee Griffin), formerly Thomas, Wallace and the late Howard Thomas and step-son of John Wallace.
Howard was a truck driver and was employed as an owner/operator, retiring from Brookville Transport in 1999, after 50+ years in the industry. Howard had a very strong work ethic. He trained many young truckers, including his two sons and his daughter fondly remembers learning to drive “dad’s tow truck” at the age of 13. Howard had a deep love for his family and his grandchildren were the sparkle in his eye. He and Lynda were actively involved in the Children’s Ministry in their church. Howard will be forever loved and missed.
Along with his mother and step-father, Howard is survived by his son Rick of Surrey, BC; daughters Lisa Hobbs (Rob) of Pefferlaw, ON., Tracy Brewer (Tim) of Fairfield, NB, and Natalie Beaman (Rob) of Saint John; grandchildren Shawn Thomas (Nicole), Robyn and Brian Hobbs, Edison and Eliesha Brewer and Michal, Evelyn and Adrian Beaman; great grandchildren Sabrina, Alexis, Makenzie, Olivia and Sofia, as well as extended family members and friends.
In addition to his father, Howard was predeceased by son Larry, grandsons Jeffrey and Jonathan, his brother Reggie and sister Donna Marie.
Arrangements under the professional care of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) The funeral service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 from True Life Church, 30 Vincent Road, Quispamsis, NB, with one hour of visiting prior to the service. Interment will be held in the Church cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers remembrances can be made in memory of Howard to the IWK Children’s Hospital or the Children’s Wish Foundation.
