MANN, PHYLLIS W. (CALDWELL)
1922-2015
With heavy hearts, the family of Phyllis W.C. Mann announce her passing on April 11, 2015 at her Residence in Moncton.
Phyllis was born in Westchester, Nova Scotia and raised in Campbellton, New Brunswick. She believed strongly in Education and had a thirst for learning her entire life. She earned a teaching certificate from Normal School in Fredericton and after teaching a year, went on to the Ottawa Civic Hospital where she trained and graduated in 1944 as a Registered Nurse. She worked with Public Health in Halifax after the Second World War, nursed in Campbellton's Soldier's Memorial Hospital and The Moncton Hospital. Once retired from Nursing, Phyllis embarked on her quest for a University Degree, earning her Bachelor of Arts from Mount Allison University in 2001 at the age of 79.
Phyllis loved the outdoors, walking all year round, skiing and skating in the winter, her beloved gardens and swimming in the summer. Her family will remember her most for her love of life, fun spirit, and her belief that all dreams are possible with a little bit of work.
Phyllis was predeceased by her husband Vernon on March 11, 2015 - they had been married almost 68 years. She was also predeceased by her parents, and siblings Carrie, Jean, and Frank.
She is survived by daughters Mary and Alix, son Stephen, daughter-in-law Bonnie (MacCharles), granddaughter Stephanie (Bob) Steeves, grandson Jody, brother Bill, sister-in-law Edna and several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.
Per Phyllis's wishes, there will be a private family service at St. George's Anglican Church Chapel with interment in Campbellton later in the spring. Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995), in care arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or charity of your choice.
