Passed away in the presence of his daughters Donna and Sharon. Predeceased by his precious daughter Joanne Marie Shano (1984, age 18), parents Charles and Margaret Shano, brothers Douglas (Francis), Charles and Thomas, and his loving wife Annie Shano (August 2014). Leaving to mourn his loss are his daughters Sharon Alexander (Peter) from Calgary, Donna LeShano-Cote (Paul) from Ottawa, his grandchildren Kelsey and Ryan Alexander and his sister Joan James (Gerry). Derm suffered a short illness following the loss of his wife Annie. Derm was a long time employee of the Canadian National Railway and was raised in St.John's, living most of his life on Southside Road. In recent years, he lived at the Shaw Street seniors complex (Maplewood Place) and St.Patrick's Mercy Home. He was his wife's long term caregiver and was never able to recover from her devastating loss. As per Dermot's request, cremation and private buriel will be carried out by Caul's Funeral Home. Donations gratefully accepted to the Kidney Foundation, Dermot and Annie's charity of choice in memory of their daughter Joanne.
