GARLAND, ALLAN
1943-2015
It is with saddened hearts, the family of Allan W. Garland wish to announce his passing, on April 9 in Clearwater, Florida with his wife, Judy and daughter, Kerri at his side. He passed peacefully and with a little smile on his face.
Allan and Judy have been living in Clearwater, Florida for the past few years, only coming home to Riverview for summer months. He was the only son of the late Ernest and Laura (Downing) Garland of Bridgedale, Albert Co. NB.
He is survived by his wife and life-long friend, Judy (Smith), daughter; Kerri Garland (Tom Ewing) of Victoria, BC., two granddaughters; Nicole Garland and Amber Crouse of Victoria, BC., sisters; Doris Stone of Charlottetown, PEI, Ruby (Joseph) Rinzler and Phyllis (Douglas) Turner, both of Riverview, NB, brother-in-law, Allen (Cheri) Smith, step-sons; Chip (Ann) Ross, Shane Ross, step-daughter; Robyn (Ian) Murray and their families.
Allan graduated from Moncton High School and later as a Chartered Accountant with his degree from Queens University. He lived and worked in Oklahoma City as an investor, property manager, owner and CEO. He and Judy have enjoyed many adventures, the highlight being, walking the Camino Santiago, an 800KM trek across Spain in 2012. Allan played Scrabble daily, online, with his daughter, Kerri. Allan was an ardent reader and loved to learn new words and history. Aside from his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters; Jean Tower of London ON, in 2003 and Marion Dowling of Stettler, AB in 2012. He had many nieces and nephews who called him their “Beloved Uncle Allan”, he will be sadly missed by all of them.
A funeral service will be held at Fair Haven Funeral Home on Monday, April 20, 2015 at 1:00 pm. Interment will take place in Fair Haven Memorial Gardens.
Donations in Allan’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of the donor’s choice.
