Mary Catherine Lewis, 92 of the Cove Guest Home, formerly of 48 Grandview Street, passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at the residence with her family by her side.
Born in Harbor Main, Nfld, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Ann (Walsh) Wall.
She was a member of St. Joseph’s parish, Sydney and the parish C.W.L. for over 50 years. Kay loved the company of her family and friends and particularly enjoyed comforting them with her home baking, her hospitality and love. Her grandchildren and her garden brought her much joy. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Kay is survived by her daughters Elizabeth (Graham) Dunlop, Donna (Donnie) MacDonald, both of Sydney; sons Steve (Marie) Lewis, Sydney, Anthony (Louise), Cole Harbour and her 7 grandchildren, Christopher, Kellie (Donald), Stephanie, Kenzie, Laura, Allyson, Nicholas, her 3 great grandchildren Emily, Shelby, Ayden, by her numerous nieces and nephews, sister-in-law Nell Wall, ON and by her closest friend of 63 years whom she considered her sister, Hazel MacDougall of Sydney.
She was predeceased by her husband Harry Lewis in 1988, brothers Gus, Leo and Gordon.
Visitation for the late Mrs. Lewis will take place today (Thursday) from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church with Rev. Bill Burke officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
The family would like to especially thank the good people at Orchard unit of the Cove Guest Home for their exceptional care and friendship given to their mother.
