COATES, ROBERT
Robert D. Coates, husband of the late Shirley Ann (Hewey) Coates, passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born January 22, 1936 in Saint John he was the son of the late Gordon and Katherine Coates.
In addition to his wife and parents he was predeceased by son Dale Coates and brother Patrick Coates.
He had worked for Maritime Paper for many years. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his children Deborah Coates (James Amlin) of Ontario, David Coates, Daniel Coates (Marlene) and Darlene Nice (Donald) all of Saint John; daughter-in-law Susan Coates of Saint John; sister Gloria Duffy of Nova Scotia; step mother Jean Coates-Fennell; grandchildren Tara Loughery (Michael), Samantha Nice, Thomas Nice, Melanie Bisson (Sebastien), Michael Fournier (Claudie), Michael Coates, Becky Casey and Brad Coates, several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) on Friday, April 17, 2015 at 2 p.m. with visitations from 11 am until service time. Interment will follow in Fernhill Cemetery.
