Sadie Muriel Favaro

Born In: Donkin

Passed in: Donkin
Passed on: April 14th, 2015

It is with great sadness, that we, the family, announce the passing of our loving mother, aunt and friend, Sadie Muriel Favaro, age 87.
Sadie passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 14, 2015, at the Glace Bay Hospital with her loving family by her side.
Born in Donkin, she was the daughter of the late Archibald and Margaret (Prosper) Corbin, and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Mom was a true homemaker, a job she cherished; she enjoyed cooking, baking, knitting, spending time with her loving family and going to bingo games with her lady friends.
In 1959, mom, dad and children moved from Donkin to New Jersey, where we resided until 1973; while there, mom was employed as a clerk at a local grocery store. Upon returning to Donkin, mom was the major caregiver for her ailing mother while she lived in her home. Years later when her mother resided at Victoria Haven Nursing Home, mom visited her daily; she was so well known by the staff at Victoria Haven she accepted a job in their kitchen, where she worked until her retirement.
She will be sadly missed by her loving children, daughter Florence Wendy Favaro, Donkin; son John Anthony 'Tony' (Nancy) Favaro, Sydney. She will also be sadly missed by several nieces, nephews and friends.
Besides her parents, Mom was also predeceased by her loving husband, John Anthony Favaro (1994), sister Vera Nearing, brothers, Tom, Gerald and Cyril in infancy.
Visitation for Sadie will be held tomorrow, Friday, April 17, 2015, from 1 pm. until the time of service at 2 pm. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay, with Fr. Norman MacPhee officiating. A reception will immediately follow the service. Interment will be at a later date in St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery, Black Brook.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donation in Mom’s memory may be made to The Alzheimer Society, or to a charity of one’s choice.
At this time we would like to thank the doctors and the nursing staffs on the 3rd and 4th floors of the Glace Bay Hospital for the care and compassion shown to our mother.
