It is with broken hearts that we the family announce the passing of Jeanette Scriven, 81, on Wednesday, April 15, 2015, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Whitney Pier, she was the daughter of the late Ruben and Rodena (MacLean) Thorne.
Jeanette was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved life to the fullest and was extremely proud of her Cape Breton heritage. She was an inspiration to her family and friends. She will be sadly missed.
Jeanette is survived by her loving companion, Cyril Wall; daughter Jennifer Scriven, Mississauga, Ont.; sons, Bill (Elaine) Scriven, Woodstock, Ont., and Gary (Donna) Scriven, Campbell River, B.C.; her grandchildren, Alanna (Danilo) Donoso, Brett Scriven (Sandy), Chelsea Scriven, her precious great-grandchild, Nathan Donoso.
She is also survived by her sisters, Lillian 'Lil' Atkinson, Sydney,Hannah 'Mae' Winpenny, Toronto; sister-in-law Doreen Thorne, Lindsay, Ont.; brothers-in-law, Ivan Crowdis, Sydney, and Tom (Carol) Scriven, Georgetown, Ont., Cyril’s children, Robert Wall, Sonya Wall, her son Nolan, David Wall, Michael (Theresa) Wall, their daughter Erin; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister Rubena 'Babe' Crowdis, brother, George Thorne.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, April 18, 2015, at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney.
A special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Palliative Care Unit, CBRH, VON and Homecare for all their care given to Jeanette during her illness.
Donations maybe made to the Palliative Care Hospice.
