THOMPSON, RONALD JOHN
The death of Ronald John Thompson occurred at the Oromocto Public Hospital on April 17th, 2015. He was born on August 2nd, 1924, in Dalhousie, NB to the late Alex and Elizabeth (Martin) Thompson.
Ronald served with the Canadian Medical Corps during WWII, and with the Corps of Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (RCEME) during the Korean War. He continued his service with the Canadian Armed Forces and the RCEME for over 20 years. After retirement Ronald opened Thompson's Autobody, servicing the community of Oromocto for several years. At the age of 76 he taught himself to sing and play guitar, and then joined the Fredericton Bluegrass Association.
Ronald is survived by his son, Terrence Thompson; grand-daughter, Joanne Barker; great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Christopher, and Jesse Barker; and great-great-grandson, Liam Barker. He is also survived by his brothers, Manford and George Thompson and his sister, Gladys Sayer.
Visitation will be held at the Oromocto Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 22nd, 2015 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #93, will hold a tribute at 7:00 pm at the funeral home. The funeral service will take place at the Oromocto Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, April 23rd, 2015 at 2:00 pm with The Rev. Canon Walter Williams officiating.
