John 'Jr' Horvath

It is with deep sadness that we the family announce the passing of John 'JR' Horvath of Howie Center on April 17, 2015.
Born in New Waterford, he was the son of the late John and Margaret (Kiss) Horvath.
JR joined the Army in December of 1955 to 1963.
He loved to hunt and fish, play golf and was involved in legions both in Ontario and Nova Scotia. He was a lifetime member and the President of Branch 151.
Surviving are is wife, Pat (Gouthro); sons, Gene and Paul; brother, Frank (Joan); step-sister, Joanne Muska; sister-in-law, Olga Horvath.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Laddie and sister, Hilda.
Visitation will be held Thursday, April 23, 2015 from 4-7 p.m. at the SW Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St. Sydney. A Legion and Peacekeepers service at 7 p.m with a reception to follow at Branch 151, Howie Center.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Branch 151 Legion or a charity of choice.
“Burn what is left of me and scatter the ashes to the wind on Cape Breton Island. If you must bury something, let it be my faults and my weaknesses. When remembering me, do it with a kind deed or word, to someone who needs you. If you do all I have asked, I will live forever."
