Bernard Crowe (Bernie)

Bernard Crowe (Bernie), Truro, died peacefully on April 21, 2015 at Colchester East Hants Health Centre at the wonderful age of 90. Born in Truro, he was the eldest of four children born to the late Chester (Check) and Ellen Crowe (Hennigar) and was predeceased by his wife, Lenna (Isenor), who passed away in 1994. Bernard and Lenna met and married on his return from WW II where he served in the reserve infantry regiment The Nova Scotia Highlanders (North Novies), 36 Canadian Brigade Group, 5th Canadian Division. They lived and raised their children in North End and Upper Brookfield, Nova Scotia. Bernard will be long remembered for his kind, gentle, honest and generous manner, his smiling face and his wonderfully playful sense of humour.
He will be sorely missed by his children Colie (Donna), David (Kim) and Reg (Sherri); his daughters-in-law Belinda and Dolly, and sons-in-law Rick Watcher and Kevin Earl; his youngest sister Joan and her husband Vernon Read; brothers-in-law Albert Abraham and Bud Densmore; many wonderful grandchildren and great grandchildren, his great great grandchild, his nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his sisters Ileen and Betty, his children Karen, James, Michael, and Diane, his grandchild Michael John, and his daughter-in-law Penny. During his short time at the Colchester Hospital, Bernard was comforted by his granddaughter, Dawn, by his side and daily visits from many family and friends. Heartfelt thanks are extended by the family to Brenda and Debbie for all the support and kindness they graciously gave to Bernard over the years and to the entire staff in the Palliative Care Unit of the Colchester Hospital.
No visitation by family request. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. A graveside service will take place on June 20th, 2015 at 2 pm in the Brookfield East Side Cemetery, Brookfield.
