Moncton, NB – MATTISON, Pauline Joyce (nee Hutchinson), 1930 – 2015, passed away at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Center, Moncton, NB, at the age of 85 years. She was predeceased by her parents Hartley & Lalia Hutchinson of Morristown, NS. Pauline is survived by her loving husband, George, of 60 years; children Paula (Paul ) Victoria, BC, Mark (Claire) Moncton, NB, Todd, Jasper, AB, Lisa(Alan) Jasper, AB; grandchildren Emily, Anna, Erin, Troy, and Jeremy; great grandchildren Grayson and Elle; sister Doris ( late Ed ) Berwick NS; brother Leslie (Jackie) New Minas, NS and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Pauline treasured her friendships with Inez Gaudet and Peggy Gaudet. Pauline loved growing up on the family farm, and before her marriage she worked at the Experimental Farm in Kentville, NS. Her many interests included her love of nature, bird watching, tending to her beloved flower garden, visiting neighbours and friends, being a sports mom extraordinaire and volunteering for the Kidney Foundation. Pauline loved to walk, and people in Moncton will remember her daily treks throughout the city. Pauline was the recipient of two kidney transplants spanning 27 years. She will be forever thankful to her donor son, Todd, for his “gift of life”. It significantly enhanced her quality of life. Pauline greatly appreciated the care of her Doctors and Staff, “her angels”, on the dialysis unit & 4F. In her quest for fairness, she became the public face in NB for equality in both choice of senior care facilities and financial subsidies based on medical diagnosis. Pauline was an exceptional woman who will be remembered for her indomitable spirit, dignity, grace and acceptance in facing overwhelming medical challenges. A nurturing mother and grandmother, she cherished her time with family and would often say; “We have our memories – love you forever and forever.” Visitation for Pauline was held at Passage Funeral Chapel, 625 Mountain Road, Moncton on Wednesday, April, 22, 2015 from 7:00 – 9:00 PM. A memorial service was held at Passage Funeral Chapel on Thursday, April, 23 at 2 PM. Interment will take place Morristown NS at a later date. A coffee reception will follow the service.
