Christabel E Newcombe (Chris) 93, passed away peacefully April 23rd at Victoria Hospice after a year of health issues. She was beloved by all for her compassion and concern for others. She was born in Digby, NS, daughter of the late Wm Henry and Minnie F.(Astbury) Watts. She graduated from NS Normal College and taught school in Collingwood, Nappan and Amherst NS areas. She loved teaching and was an active member of the church and community wherever she lived. She is predeceased by her husband William H (Bill), her sister Frances Watts and her daughter in law Joan E (MacDonald) Newcombe (Bill). She is survived by 2 children; William(Bill) and Valerie (Randy) Maze. She has 5 grandchildren Michael (Gosia) Newcombe, Beth Newcombe, Sean (Carolyn) Maze, Michelle (Jeff) Cunningham, and Chris (Tahra) Maze. She was also blessed with 7 great-grandchildren. There will be a Celebration of Life service for her at St Aidan's United Church, Victoria, BC on May 2nd at 2 pm. A private Internment service will take place at a later date for family members. Donations could be made to Heart & Stroke Fund, Canadian Cancer Society, Kidney Foundation or Victoria Hospice Society. She will be greatly missed. Rest in peace Mom.
