Nora Downey

DOWNEY, NORA
Nora Adeline Downey (nee Boudreau), passed away peacefully on April 24, 2015 after a lengthy illness.
She was born and lived in Moncton for most of her life, where she worked for the Federal Government before retiring and relocating to Burlington, ON. Nora was a very talented artist who loved to paint and share her gift with others and avidly supported the arts community. Nora's greatest passion was people. She constantly went out of her way to be friendly to those around her and make them smile, whether she knew them well or had just met them. Nora had the incredible gift of seeing through people's faces and hearing what their hearts said. For this reason, Nora was an angel on Earth to many around her and always helped others. She loved to laugh and could lighten up a room in seconds with her joyous giggles. That joy was most specially given by her to her grandchildren. Nora always took the time to see and hear every little thing that her grandchildren wanted to show her and because of that, they could never get enough of her and were always excited to see their Grammy. Nora's enthusiasm for life, her love for God, her giving spirit, her tireless desire to help and take an interest in others and the joy that she radiated have forever shaped the lives of those who were blessed to have known her. She will be deeply missed, always loved, and never forgotten.
Nora is survived by her husband Allan; daughters, Kira (Kevin Thurbide) and Krista (Peter Smith); brothers, John (Carol), Donald (Adele), and Francis (Marcelle); sisters, Eva (David “Bud” Malcolm), Aline White and Anna (Paul Christianson); grandchildren, Amelia, Neil, Owen, and Mason; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place on Sunday, May 3, 2015 from 7 to 9 pm at Fair Haven Funeral Home, 1177 Salisbury Rd, Moncton, NB, E1E 3V9, (506) 852-3530, where a funeral service will be held on Monday, May 4, 2015 at 10 am, followed by a reception in the funeral home reception centre.
