POIRIER, JEANNINE
The passing of Jeannine Poirier of Fredericton, widow of the late Paul J. Poirier, occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 surrounded by her loving family.
Born in St. Leonard, NB on May 21, 1930, she was a daughter of the Late Anthime and Helene (Desjardins) Godin.
Jeannine was a homemaker all her life and took great joy in raising and nurturing her seven children and was continually delighted by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A deeply spiritual person, Jeannine faithfully attended Sainte-Anne-des-Pays-Bas in Fredericton where she made many lasting friendships. Jeannine and her late husband were strong supporters of the Canadian Red Cross and were honored by the Lieutenant Governor for their many years of Volunteering and also volunteered with Fredericton Meals on Wheels for many years.
Jeannine is survived by her six children, Georgette Poirier of Victoriaville, Quebec, Claude Poirier of Moncton, Rita Poirier of St. Therese, Quebec, David (Paula) Poirier of Fredericton, Anne Poirier of Fredericton and Marc (Marie-Renee Duguay) Poirier of Fredericton; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Elisabeth Charron Godin (Andre) of Embrun, Ontario; two brother, Antoine Godin (Monique) of St. Canut, Quebec and Henri Godin (Monique) of St. Therese, Quebec; nieces and nephews.
Aside from her parents and husband, Jeannine was predeceased by a daughter, Jacqueline; a sister, Sister Jacqueline CNDPS and two brothers, Frederic and Joseph.
There will be no visitation by request of the family and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
For those who wish to make a contribution to a charity in memory of Jeannine, the family has suggested the Canadian Red Cross.
