Robie Harvie

Passed in: Windsor, Canada
Passed on: April 27th, 2015

Robie Herbert Harvie, age 74, of Three Mile Plains, Hants Co. It was with heartfelt sadness that we announced the passing of Robie on Monday, April 27, 2015, at the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Robie was hardworking, helpful, loving and enjoyed having fun. He started working at an early age as an assistant manager for IGA. In the late 60’s he changed his career to carpentry. He worked in Halifax for many years as a labourer and foreman. Later in life he took on the challenge of foreman on the Strait Crossing Bridge to PEI. Although his work was hard and required long hours he liked the satisfaction of a job well done. He loved the outdoors, but even more so he loved going to his camp. It was his refuge, he spent many endless hours fixing it up so it had all the comforts of home when he arrived to go hunting, fishing and touring around on his four wheeler. He used the camp and his woodlot as an excuse for “needing” his tractor. Robie was a perfectionist when it came to projects he was working on, everything had to be done just so. Although he was a man of few words when it came to expressing his feelings his family always knew he loved them and would do anything he could to help out. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. He loved teaching them how to build things and how to drive on all those back roads. He will be always loved and deeply missed by his wife of 52 years, the former Margaret Fraser; his daughters, Christine (Norm) Hiller and Susanne; his grandchildren, Nikki Sanford, Kirby (Holly) Sanford, Kassi (Jamie McKinnon) Sanford, and Layne Hillier; siblings, Clyde (Sandra) Harvie, Brighton, Ont.; Priscilla Walsh, New Glasgow; Faye Beazley, Windsor; Norma (Johnny) Hampsey, Aylesford; Jimmy (Jan) Harvie, Bridgewater; as well as many other family and friends. Robie was predeceased by his parents, Clyde and Ina (Chapman) Harvie of Mosherville; and brothers, Carl, Michael and Willard “Bill”; sister-in-law, Lillian Chapman; brother-in-law, Ebert “Red” Walsh. A special thank you to Deanna, Tiffanny, Brenda (We Care), Bev, Amber (Palliative Care Nurses), the Doctors and Nurses at Hants Community Hospital, and the VON Nurses. Without your caring, understanding, guidance and patience, Robie would have not enjoyed the quality of life he had during the last few months. There was a celebration of life at the Three Mile Plains Community Hall, 2-4 p.m. Saturday, May 2, 2015. Arrangements were under the care of Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home (902-798-2232), 194 King Street, P.O. Box 2218, Windsor, B0N 2T0. Donations in memory of Robie were requested to be made to the Palliative Care (Hants Community Hospital); the Canadian Red Cross or to a charity of one’s choice.
