It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Patrick Lawrence Lahey, who passed away Monday, April 27, 2015, at the QEII, Halifax, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Main-a-Dieu on July 9, 1950, he was a son of the late Bill and Lucy Lahey.
To Pat, the most important thing in life was his family - his wife, seven children and 10 grandchildren, whom he loved and adored. He was a kind and giving man, who was best known for the love and laughter he brought to all who were graced by his friendship.
Surviving are his loving wife of 44 years, Irene (Hall); children, Patrick (Koreen), Kirk (Ashley), Sandy (Tanya), Tyler (Sherry), Von (Kenzie), Luciann (Mike) and his best buddy, Josh; grandchildren, Kelcie, Patrick Douglas, Kameryn, Shamus, Kenzie, Jackson, Maria, Bailey, Ella and Reese; sisters, Eunice (John) Huskins and Loyola (Frank) Spearey, Halifax, Lucille (Tom) Ley, Main-a-Dieu and Norma (Clarence) MacMillan, New Glasgow; brother, George (Anne) Lahey, Halifax; brother-in-law, Ed Mayne, Halifax; sisters-in-law, Mabel Wadden and Leona MacDonald, Catalone and Carol Lahey, Sydney.
Pat was predeceased by loving family members, Mary, Clem and Bill Griffin; Monica Mayne; Yvonne, Joe and Sam Mrazek; Marina, Michael, Peter and Thomas (in infancy); Alan Hall; Dave and Tony Wadden.
Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Thursday, April 30 from 7-9 p.m. and Friday, May 1 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Church, Main-a-Dieu on Saturday, May 2 at 10 a.m., with Fr. Raj officiating. Following the service, a reception will take place at the Catalone Recreation Centre, 20 New Boston Rd., Catalone.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, the Canadian Diabetes Association or to a charity of your choice.
