Shirley Legace

LAGACÉ, SHIRLEY
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Shirley Lagacé of Carter’s Point announce her passing, which occurred at home on April 30th, 2015.
Born in Edmundston on May 21, 1942, she was a daughter of the late John and Alma (Turgeon) Plourde. She lived a quiet life, but her family was the most important thing to her. Shirley was incredibly proud of her children and grandchildren. In her younger years, she worked in a factory, and did secretarial work in her later years, but most importantly, she took care of her family; knitted afghans for all of her grandchildren were her latest gifts. Following her liver transplant in 2009, she took up reading, and was quite experienced with Facebook, more so than her children! It was a great way for Shirley to keep in touch with her grandchildren, especially those of them who were living in Alberta.
Shirley is survived by her twin sister, Dorothy Plourde, sister Sonya (Peder) Pedersen, and brothers Donald (Monique) Plourde, Mario (Ghislaine) Plourde, Hermel Plourde, Hervé Plourde (Mona Martin), and her brother-in-law Norman Kenny. She is also survived by her children Nelson (Christine) Lagacé of Alberta, Karen (Douglas) Jones of Manitoba, Micheline (Steven) Arthurs of Carter’s Point, Sharon Lagacé (Garth Wall) of Halifax, Susan (Jason) Hughes of Carter’s Point, and Chantale Lagacé-Stewart (Mike Dixon) of Carter’s Point, as well as 19 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was pre-deceased by brothers Gilbert and Alban Plourde, and a sister, Jocelyne Kenny.
The family invites you to join them for a celebration of Shirley’s life, which will be held at the James Williams Community Hall, 2560 Route 845, Carter’s Point, on Tuesday at 2:00pm.
For those who wish, remembrances to the Life: Pass It On Transplant Society (www.lifepassiton.ca) would be appreciated by the family. The funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424). Online condolences may be placed at www.fundyfuneralhome.com
