Jimmy McPhee, age 68, passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2015, at home, after a brief illness.
He was born in Reserve Mines and grew up in Port Morien. Jimmy was the son of Theresa (Thomas) McPhee and the late Emmanuel ‘Manny’ McPhee.
Jimmy worked in the construction business for many years and was last employed at Cape Breton University. He loved hunting, fishing, singing and playing guitar. Jimmy will be remembered as a very kind and compassionate man who loved his family dearly.
He is survived by his wife, Ange (Bertin) McPhee; one daughter, Misty (Ryan) Hynes, Port Morien; three sons, Jamie (Sharon), Glace Bay, Vance (Tracey), Alberta, Shawn (Kea), Dominion; one sister, T.C. Petrie, Glace Bay; five brothers, Danny, Bernie, Paul, John, Glace Bay, Neil, Ontario; four grandchildren, Rayah, Sandra, Dylan, Carter; nieces and nephews.
Besides his father, Jimmy was predeceased by a brother, Manny.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, Glace Bay. The funeral mass officiated by Fr. Norman MacPhee is Monday 11 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, Port Morien.
