It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of my sister, Mary Margaret Gillis, who passed away at home.
Born in Boston, Mass., she was the daughter of the late James A. and Margaret (MacLellan) Gillis.
Mary was very community minded and volunteered on various community boards. She graduate from St. Francis Xavier University and went on to Cornell University, Ithaca, New York, where she received a Master’s Degree in Community and Economic Development. Her life’s work was in Research & Development with federal, provincial and municipal governments. She was also a member of St. Theresa’s parish.
She is survived by brother, Joseph Gillis, St. Andrew’s, Antigonish Co.
As per Mary’s request, there will be no visitation or service.
Donations in Mary’s memory may be made to the N.S. Arthritis Society.
