1914-2015

Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at Extendicare Moose Jaw. Peter at the age of 100, predeceased by his beloved wife Edna (1999), his son Garry (2011), and his grandson Kirk (1995). Cherished friend of Irene Craig, loving father of Sharon Wallace (Dan), and son Ivan. His memory will be cherished by his 4 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, by his sisters, Betty Renwick, Rose Sitter, and by his brother Mike Thome. He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, and numerous friends. Peter was born to Peter and Christina Thome on the family farm in Fox Valley, SK on June 24, 1914. He grew up in the Fox Valley area working on the farm with his brothers. He married Edna on Nov 16, 1941, and the couple started their family together farming near Glidden, SK. In the early 1960’s, They moved to the Moose Jaw area and continued farming, then later on moved to the Rouleau area. After retiring for nearly 10 years, Peter and Edna retired from their retirement and bought a cattle ranch in Peace River continuing to work until age 90. Peter and Edna enjoyed many years in their motorhome, traveling all over North America. They enjoyed many winters in Arizona. After Edna’s passing, Peter moved to Calgary for a short while before returning to Moose Jaw, first living at Pioneers Village, then on to The Bentley. He enjoyed his time at The Bentley and made many close friends, but became particularly fond of Irene Craig. He was a dedicated member of St. Joseph’s Parish and attended faithfully until it became too difficult to venture out. Friends and family are invited to a prayer service to be held on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at Parkview Funeral Chapel at 7:00 p.m. A Celebration of Peter’s Life will be held at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 1064 3rd Ave. NW, Moose Jaw, on Friday, May 15, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. Peter will be laid to rest at Rosedale Cemetery, beside his wife Edna following the funeral mass.
