ROUSE, William “Bill”
December 20, 1938 – May 2, 2015

It is with great sadness that we the family announce the death of William K Rouse (Bill). Bill passed away in the Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert on May 2, 2015 at the age of 76. Bill was born in Donavon SK on December 20, 1938. He spent his early years around the Donavon and Swanson district. He later worked for Pioneer Grain repairing elevators. He knew of all the small towns in and around the Elrose area. On November 10, 1962 he married Sylvia Svoboda, they lived in Elrose later moving to North Battleford where he worked for Revelstoke managing the cement plant for 2 years, then moving to Meadow Lake in 1970. His passion was always driving Semi’s and with the saw mill and later the Pulp Mill in Meadow Lake he finally got his dream job. At first driving for others and later purchasing his own truck. The first truck he bought was a used one. In 1980 Bill bought his first new truck a Mack he hauled logs and also crude oil in Lloydminster. He later purchased a Ford, Western Star, and a Peterbuilt. He did well with the trucks doing most of the servicing with help from his drivers. In 1986 he moved to the farm in Meath Park where he farmed with his brother-in-law Stan, while keeping the log haul in Meadow Lake until he suffered a severe stroke in 1996 on the farm unloading grain. The stroke left him paralyzed on his right side. He recovered well enough to return home to the farm and lived the rest of his life at home in a wheel chair in the care of his loving wife. He managed quite well until he fractured his right leg after which he spent four months in Victoria Hospital until his passing. He leaves behind his wife of 52 years Sylvia; his brothers James Rouse and Bruce (Bev) Rouse and their children; grandchildren; great-grandchild; numerous cousins and their families; the Joyes family; his sister-in-law Ann Grocholski along with her children; grandchildren and great grandchildren; his brother-in-law Morris (Gloria) Svoboda with their children and grandchildren and long time friends and truck driver buddies. He will be missed by all. Bill was predeceased by his parents Marjorie and Arthur Rouse; his mother and father-in-law Marie and Vladimir Svoboda; his sister Betty Joyes and brother-in-law Stan Grocholski.
Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at the Henribourg Cemetery. Lunch and fellowship to follow at the Meath Park Seniors Hall.
