FITZGERALD, Leonard Leslie – age 90, Hubbard’s Point, Yarmouth Co., passed away suddenly on Thursday, May 7, 2015 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born April 1, 1925 on Harris Island, later moving to Comeau’s Hill and then to Surette’s Island, Leonard was a son of the late Pierre Edouard “Pete” and Rose Anne Helene “Lena” (Doucet) Fitzgerald. He fished all of his life starting at the age of 10 because of family illnesses. He didn’t have a lazy bone in his body. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Alma (Doucette) of Hubbard’s Point, as well as by their daughter, Cecile (Bill), Tusket and his one and only grandson, Michael (Cora), Halifax, as well as by a sister, Evelyn Doucette, Hubbard’s Point. Aside from his parents, he was predeceased by brothers and sisters, Bernard, Wilfred, Clovis, Celestine, Anthony, Flora and Lorraine. Visitation took place from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday, with prayers at 8:00, at H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth. The funeral mass was held at 10 a.m., Monday, May 11 from Saint Anne’s Church, Ste. Anne-du-Ruisseau, Father Albeni d’Entremont officiated. Interment followed in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Kidney Foundation of Canada, the Tri-County Site of the VON or to a charity of choice.
