McILLWRAITH, GORDON “GERALD”
It is with great sadness the family announce the death of Gerald McIllwraith of Saint John who passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Sunday May 10th, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Salisbury, NB July of 1950, he was the only son of the late Gordon and Anna (McCollum) McIllwraith.
Gerald worked for the Armed Forces for many years as a trained Electrician retiring in 1989. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed fishing and NASCAR races. Gerald was a devoted brother, uncle, great-uncle and friend.
He is survived by his loving sisters Elizabeth Rackley of Dartmouth, NS, Judi Paylor of Brampton, ON, Mary Doucet (Kerry Harwood) of Stoneycreek, ON and Theresa Shipley (Patrick) of Kingston Peninsula; three aunts, a uncle, 12 nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews and two great-great-niece and nephew and friends.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Fundy Funeral Home 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation on Tuesday, May 12th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. with a Royal Canadian Legion Tribute starting at 6:00 p.m. Funeral mass will be held from St. Joachim’s Catholic Church, 603 Loch Lomond Road on Wednesday, May 13th at 12 noon. Interment to follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
Donations in Gerald’s memory can be made to the Lung Association, Alzheimer’s Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
