RICHARDS, DANIEL "DANNY" MAYNARD
1939 - 2015
Rusagonis, NB- It is with great sadness that the family of Daniel “Danny” Richards announces his death at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on May 7th, 2015. Danny was born in Alberton, PE, on February 4th, 1939 to the late Fred and Lena Richards.
Survived by the love of his life, Rose Mae (Gallant) Richards, whom he married August 10, 1960; his loving children, Susan Richards (Mitch) of Hamtown Corner, NB, Colleen Lawrence of Coloma, MI, Ronald Richards (Lanna) of Bridgewater, NS; grandchildren, Matthew Richards and Alex, Aron, and Christine Lawrence; siblings, Brenta Arsenault, Sarah Arsenault (Ralph), Camillus Gallant (Eugene), Sydney Richards, all of Summerside, PE and Jackie (Mildred) Richards of Glenvale, NB; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Danny was predeceased by his nephew, Michael and a very special niece, Pauline.
Dan served in the Canadian Armed Forces from 1956 to 1980. He served in The Black Watch from 1956 to 1970 then from 1970 to 1980 he was with the Royal Canadian Regiment. His service took him to Camp Sussex, Camp Aldershot, CFRS Cornwallis, CFB Petawawa, CFB Gagetown, and CFB Borden. Dan also had three tours to Cyprus, and spent time in Quebec, Germany, and Jamaica. After retirement, he spent much of his time in his workshop making bird houses and other little items for the garden. He also had a passion for beekeeping and enjoyed helping new beekeepers.
There will be no visitation by request. A memorial service will take place at the J. A. McAdam Memorial Chapel on Thursday, May 14th, 2015 at 11:00 am with Rev. Mark Trzop officiating.
For those who wish, memorial tributes made to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
