Annie Janet Herney, 56, of Eskasoni, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 11, 2015, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Noel P. and Julia (Paul) Herney.
She was a member of Holy Family parish, Eskasoni. Janet was a lifelong member of the community and was always around to help her friends, family and neighbours with anything she could, especially where house cleaning was needed.
She is survived by daughters, Irene, Eskasoni, Julienne 'Lena' (Jessica), Buffalo, N.Y., Annie Jean, Membertou; sons, Theodore (Amber), Roderick (Trish), Pierro, Simon (Catherine), Kevin, all of Eskasoni, Julian (Kelly), Membertou; sisters, Louise Johnson, Linda Jeddore; brother, Michael, all of Eskasoni; 28 grandchildren, one great-granddaughter and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She is also survived by her former husband, Michael Pierro Johnson, Esksoni.
Janet was predeceased by six brothers, Noel J., Roderick, John, Angus, Tom, Randall, and Peter in infancy; sister, Mary Catherine; and one grandson in infancy.
Visitation for the late Janet Herney will be after 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 14, at 5025 Shore Rd., Eskasoni. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Church with Rev. Joe Gillis officiating. Interment in the parish cemetery, Eskasoni.
