Bell, Leona F. - 83, Springhill, passed away Monday, May 11, 2015 in Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Amherst. Born in Springhill, she was a daughter of the late Wilbert and Ethel (Corbett) Willigar. While living in Rivers, Manitoba during her husband George’s posting in the army, Leona worked for McLeod’s and was a member of the 4-H Club and Eastern Star. She also worked for DND Food Services at CFB Winnipeg, Man. After moving back to Springhill with her family, Leona volunteered with All Saints Hospital Aux., working in the hospital gift shop and helping with the Meals on Wheels program. She is survived by her son, Darcy, Springhill; daughter, Cindy Bell (Mike Hesse), St. Catharines, Ont.; grandchildren, Jennifer, George and Sarah; sister, Helen MacKinnon, Flin Flon, Man. She was predeceased by her husband, George Bell in 2003; sister, Lavinia Gamble; brothers, Clarence and Wilbert Jr., both in infancy. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 15, in MacDiarmid’s Funeral Home, 5075 Main St., Oxford (902-447-2930). No flowers by request.
