It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Gerald W. Leslie, aged 90 of Moose Jaw, SK passed away peacefully on May 13, 2015. He was born June 5, 1924 in Wentworth, NS. The oldest of 3 boys, he is predeceased by his parents John and Georgie Leslie, brother Logan, wife Barbara, and daughter Betty. He leaves to mourn his brother Eldon Leslie, sister-in-law June Farrel; his children, Joan (Barry) Shepherd, Pam Gibson; son-in-law Carlos Maningas; his grandchildren Adam (Bev) Kaine and their children Amelia and Rachel; Shelley (Bill) Cridland and their children Mekonnen, Miheret, Tenaye, and Mitike; Paul (Yolanda) Gibson; and Gabriella Leslie Maningas. Gerald started off as a barber in Spring Hill, NS. He joined the military 1943 and served in World War II, mainly in Italy. He married the love of this life, Barbara, on April 3, 1946. They had 3 daughters. During his military career he and his family travelled and lived in various locations across Canada and overseas, finally settling and retiring in Moose Jaw, SK in 1976. In his retirement years he and his daughter Betty shared their love of horses spending many hours riding and caring for them together. He was a family man, his children and grandchildren were always a priority. He loved camping, fishing and having everything organized and planned just so. He left a message for all his friends and family: "Do not grieve for me, Barb and I are together and I am truly happy for the first time since the day she died." A private memorial for Gerald will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers please donate to Moose Jaw Military Family Resource Centre, Box 5000, Moose Jaw, S6H 7Z8.
