DOUCETTE, Velda Jean – age 52 of Jemseg, New Brunswick and formerly of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, passed away due to a liver disease on the evening of Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at home in Jemseg surrounded by loved ones and friends. Born in Yarmouth, N.S. on August 31, 1962 she was a daughter to Glady’s Crosby (Davis) and the late John Crosby. Velda was a loving wife, mother and friend to many. She was a military wife who supported her husband Shawn through 24 years of military service; she was a loving and supportive mother and an amazing person to the people who crossed paths with her. Velda is survived by husband, Shawn Doucette; daughters, Victoria, Jennifer, Jessica and Shawna Doucette; and adopted son, Alexander Hovey; mother–in-law, Helen Doucette (Goudy), 6 brothers and 5 sisters; 18 nieces and nephews; and 12 great nieces and nephews of Yarmouth N.S . Besides her father, Velda was predeceased by father–in-law, Loran Doucette; daughter, Stephanie Doucette. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation will be held Monday, May 18, 2015 from 7-9 p.m. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at 2 p.m. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Robert Baker officiating. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery. It was Velda’s wishes that people do not send flowers but instead donate to one of her selected charities in her memory. The charities are the Liver Foundation, Kidney Foundation, Heart and Stroke Foundation, or the Diabetes Association.
