George Alden Brenton

Brenton, George Alden – 70, Brookfield passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at Elk Court, Brookfield. George loved to work and to help people. He worked as a parts manager at Canadian Tire in Truro when it was located on Willow Street. He later joined the team at the Dept. of Lands and Forests, Shubenacadie Depot where he was the service technician. During those years he started Brenton Excavating and later chose early retirement to run the business fulltime and then passing it onto his son when his health began to fail. He was predeceased by his wife Ronda and his parents, Alden and Marie (O’Hanley) Brenton. He is survived by his children, Cheryl (Trent) Graham, Upper Stewiacke, Shelley (Ross) McCabe, Truro, Rodney (Stacey) Brenton, Brookfield; grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Danielle, Ryan, Alex, Samantha; great-grandchildren, Charlie and Lily; brother, Gerald (Sandra), Middle Stewiacke; sister, Elaine (Gerald) Ross, Middle Stewiacke; stepsisters,, Judy Hammond, Dartmouth, Suzanne (Keith) White, Fall River; stepbrother, Owen (Alison) O’Hanley, B.C. The family would like to thank the staff at Elk Court, VON and Dr. Trevor Locke for the wonderful care they gave Dad. To the boys from the shop, thanks for the good times from the BOSS!! Visitation will be held on Friday, May 15 from 6-8 pm; memorial service on Saturday, May 16 at 2 pm, both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro with Rev. Keith Gale officiating assisted by Rev. Larry Harrison. Interment for immediate family in Middle Stewiacke Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the Middle Stewiacke Cemetery or a charity of choice.
