Yvonne Leduc

YVONNE LEDUC
(Lavertu, nee Carrier)

Yvonne passed away peacefully with family by her side at Mont. St. Joseph Home, Prince Albert, on Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at the age of 91. With heavy hearts and great sadness, we say “Adieu” to our dearly beloved Mother, Mémerè, Aunt, Sister and Friend. “Smile, an everlasting smile” is how our Mom, Yvonne, went to be at peace with our Lord and Saviour. Mom was born on October 28, 1923 in Albertville, SK. She met Emilius Lavertu in Domremy where she gave him her heart and hand in marriage in 1942. They settled on the family farm where they were blessed with and raised nine children. Yvonne was a natural homemaker and did a lot of entertaining on the farm. She loved and lived for her family. She enjoyed dancing, singing, and playing a button accordion, and she passed on her love of music to her children. Yvonne loved hearing any and all performances. In 1966, the family moved to Prince Albert where they celebrated many weddings, anniversaries and, sadly, a funeral that left her a widow. After 50 years of marriage, Emilius, our father, was called to his eternal rest in 1992. Three years later, Yvonne was blessed yet again when she met and married Alfred Leduc from Albertville in 1995. They spent 12 joy-filled years together, and together with our extended families, before Fred passed on. Yvonne is survived by her family of sons and daughters: Denis (Pat) Lavertu, Robert Lavertu, Rita (Syl) Feduniw, Muriel (Lloyd) Warkentin, Claire (Frank) Gallant, Alice (Paul) Gramlich, Jeanne d`Arc (Terry) Emard, Arthur Lavertu, Jerry (Sherry) Lavertu; 30 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her four sisters, Lucienne Grimard, Irene Gobeil, Bertha (Norman) Samson and Madeleine (Clarence) Ethier; and sisters-in-law Laurette Carrier, Jean Carrier, and many terrific and great nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by: Emilius, her husband and loving father of her nine children; their infant son Joseph in 1946, their great-granddaughter Nikita in infancy, her twin great-grandsons Kash and Kruize Feduniw and Robert and Frank Lavertu; her daughter-in-law Margaret Lavertu; her parents Joseph Carrier and Alice (Cantin); her father-and-mother-in-law Arthur and Pamela Lavertu; her four brothers, Alfred, Henry, Edward and Armand; numerous brothers-and-sisters-in-law; and her husband Alfred Leduc. Mom spent her last seven years in the loving care of Mont St. Joseph Home in Prince Albert. A very special thank-you goes out to the staff at MSJ, and to all who knew, cared for and loved our little “Mémerè” and welcomed our family into their home. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Mont St. Joseph Foundation so that their extraordinary, caring work may continue always. Prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Friday, May 15 at River Park Memorial Chapel, with Sister Renée Buliard officiating. Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 16 from St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church with Celebrant Father Tuan Doan. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Carla Jesso, Funeral Director.
