1917 - 2015
Orlie Cairns passed away peacefully at The Veterans Health Centre on Saturday, May 16, 2015, at the age of 97. Born on Friday, July 13, 1917, he was the son of the late William and Ethel Cairns.

Orlie is survived by sons: William ”Bill” (Phyllis), Kevin (Susan), grandchildren: Trevor (Nicole Robichaud), Tracey Nelson (Jesse Keslick), Mark Wheaton, David Wheaton, Sarah Cairns, Georgia Cairns, great grandchildren: Jessica, Jake, Dorothy, Keirsten, Genevieve, and Mira, many nieces and nephews, as well as his walking buddy Alma Maxwell.

In addition to his parents Orlie was predeceased by the mother of his children, Elizabeth Cairns, daughter Elizabeth Wheaton, sisters: Olive, Annie, and Eva, and by his brothers, Ronald and Borden.

Orlie was a proud veteran who served his country in World War II , after returning home he served his community as a member of The Moncton Police Department until his retirement in 1977.

The family would like to thank the nurses, staff and administration of The Veterans Health Centre for their thoughtful care and compassion.

A memorial service celebrating Orlie’s life will be held in the chapel of Fair Haven Funeral Home on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at 3:00 pm. A reception will follow in the Garden View Room. Interment will be in Fair Haven Memorial Gardens.

Flowers gratefully declined in favor of donations to The Veterans Health Center.
